LONG ISLAND, New York (WABC) — Downed utility poles in Hicksville are causing major LIRR disruptions on the Ronkonkoma Branch Wednesday evening.
As a result, LIRR cannot operate trains on the Ronkonkoma Branch east of Hicksville and west of Farmingdale. There is no service at Bethpage.
Limited shuttle train service will operate between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma.
Ronkonkoma Branch service is expected to remain partially suspended through the evening rush hour. The MTA says 13,000 LIRR riders use the affected branch on average during evening peakhours.
They urge anyone that’s traveling to allow for extra time, and consider using alternate branches, such as the Port Jefferson, Babylon, or Montauk branches. Some Babylon Branch trains scheduled to end at Wantagh may be extended to Babylon.
