Walker’s Shortbread has partnered with Avolta to launch a limited-edition tin commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth II exclusively in UK travel retail.
The Queen’s Commemorative Tin is now available through Avolta’s World Duty Free stores across UK airports, priced at £15.50 for 300g.
Designed as a premium gift and collector’s item, the gold tin features a black-and-white portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II wearing her crown and jewellery. It contains a selection of all-butter shortbread, including crown rounds, Union Jack shortbread and Walker’s signature shortbread fingers.
The launch builds on Walker’s longstanding association with the Royal Family. King Charles III, then Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, opened the company’s Aberlour factory in 2001 and its Aberlour House head office in 2008.
Walker’s was granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment from King Charles III in 2024 for the supply of shortbread and oatcakes. The company had previously received Royal Warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen Mother.
Bryony Walker, Commercial Director at Walker’s Shortbread, said: “Our new commemorative tin reflects Walker’s long-standing association with the Royal Household and the craftsmanship behind our Scottish heritage.
“We are delighted to partner with Avolta to offer this exclusive collector’s item to passengers in travel retail. It represents a piece of Scottish heritage and a celebration of a remarkable legacy, allowing travellers to take home a gift that is both meaningful and delicious.”
Eve Fifer, Commercial Director UK at Avolta, added: “Products with a strong sense of place are an important part of the travel retail experience, particularly when they combine local heritage with a distinctive gifting opportunity.
“Walker’s is synonymous with Scottish provenance, and this limited-edition commemorative tin brings together the brand’s heritage, craftsmanship and iconic shortbread in a format created especially for travellers. We are pleased to offer it exclusively through our World Duty Free stores across UK airports.”
The launch comes during a milestone year for Walker’s, which received the King’s Award for Enterprise in recognition of its international trade performance. The family-owned company, established in Aberlour in 1898, exports its products to close to 100 markets worldwide.
