New York City Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited Buffalo on Thursday as part of a statewide tour.
The Democrat visited with Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan before hosting an event aimed at turning out registered Democrats that don’t normally head to the polls.
The training focused on targeting inactive voters who, if they don’t vote in November, might get purged from voter rolls.
“It is oftentimes such a discouraging experience that a person finally shows up, and when they’re turned away, they say, ‘I’m done forever,'” she said.
Republican lawmakers also gathered to voice their opposition to Ocasio-Cortez. They rallied against what they call socialist policies and the growing socialist agenda in the Democratic Party.
