New Yorkers could begin feeling the effects of an approaching nor’easter Friday, but the worst of the storm is expected to arrive Saturday. Heavy rain, strong winds and coastal flooding are expected to threaten the region, with impacts possibly reaching the Jersey Shore and eastern Long Island. For Staten Island, the storm is expected to bring approximately 1 to 2 inches of rain, along with wind gusts that could reach around 50 miles per hour. Travel around the region could also be affected, with the possibility of flooded roads, closures and restrictions on area bridges.
