ISP presented the case to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, which approved the abovementioned charge.

BROOKLYN, Illinois — A Pontoon Beach man is in custody in connection to a shooting that left a woman dead outside of a gentleman’s club in Brooklyn, Illinois. 

26-year-old Malik D. Day, who was already in custody in Missouri, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting that happened Sunday morning at the Club O Gentlemen’s Club at 213 Madison Street, according to Illinois State Police. 

The shooting left 21-year-old Jon’nae Abbott of St. Louis dead after gunfire from a passing vehicle struck her while she was in line waiting to enter the establishment. 

The agency says that, through an investigation, detectives identified Day as a suspect.

Day remains in custody at the St. Louis City Justice Center pending extradition to Illinois.
