PROSPECT HEIGHTS — ORIGINAL STAINED-GLASS SCULPTURES and tapestries by celebrated artist and children’s book author Christopher Myers are on display through Dec. 27 at Brooklyn Public Library’s Central location in Prospect Heights. The exuberant works illustrate Myers’ forthcoming book, “Night Ride.” Depicting a group of New York City kids bicycling across the city, they are featured on the façade, in the grand lobby and elsewhere.

The exhibit also features two 40-foot tapestries showcasing characters and settings from often-banned literary works including George Orwell’s “Animal Farm” and Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye.” The works align with BPL’s mission to offer the public unlimited access to banned literature, the library said.

Myers will be in conversation with film producer Karin Chien and Kokila Books President  Namrata Tripathi on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m. on the topic of artistic freedom. Taking place during Banned Books Week, the event will be moderated by Hrag Vartanian, editor-in-chief of Hyperallergic.
