(NewsNation) — Former FBI and CIA agent Tracy Walder believes the ease of access to New York City manholes leaves the U.S. open to terrorist attacks.
Between Thursday and Friday, five men in New York City were seen climbing out of manholes in Brooklyn and Manhattan. According to NewsNation affiliate PIX11, two of them have been arrested.
It comes three months after surveillance videos showed groups of people opening manholes, climbing into the sewer system and disappearing below the streets in Queens and Brooklyn.
“The most immediate (concern) is why is our critical infrastructure so easily accessible? Particularly in areas like the UN you mentioned, Penn Station, MSG, there were some that were close to there as well,” Walder told “Katie Pavlich Tonight.”

“I think that to me is issue number one. And I don’t want to say it’s an easy fix, because it’s not. There’s just under a million manhole covers in New York City.
“I don’t think it’s a matter of if. I think it’s actually a matter of when,” Walder said of American adversaries using manholes for a possible terror attack.
“We’ve now given individuals who want to commit terrorist attacks a very easy idea of how to do it by showing them just how vulnerable this is,” she added.
