October is almost here! That means it’s time to head to the farm, pick out the perfect pumpkin, and carve it up just in time for Halloween. Here are five of the best-rated pumpkin patches across the five boroughs, so you can enjoy all the fall fun without traveling far.

Queens County Farm Museum

73-50 Little Neck Parkway / Website

Opening on Oct. 1, Queens County Farm Museum’s pumpkin patch will offer free admission to all guests. Visitors can stroll through historic 47-acre farm grounds dating back to 1697.

All pumpkins will be priced by size, and guests should remember to bring their own bags. The pumpkin patch will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.

In addition to the pumpkin patch, Queens County Farm Museum also offers visitors the chance to feed goats, sheep, and alpacas, as well as partake in a $6 tractor-pulled hayride.

On Oct. 3 and Oct. 4, the 43rd Annual Queens Agricultural Fair will take place, requiring a special ticket for entry. The fair will include corn husking contests, square dancing, and blue ribbon competitions. Adult single-day tickets cost $18.77.

The Queens County Farm Museum will also require a special ticket for entry on Oct. 31 for Halloween on the Farm, where families can roam through the famed Adriance Farmhouse, trick-or-treat, and more. Adult tickets cost $15. 

Green Meadows Farm New York

Every weekend from Sept. 26 until Nov. 8, plus Oct. 12, Green Meadows Farm New York will give one free pumpkin to every guest with paid admission. All fall events will take place at Alley Pond Park and be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

To celebrate the start of fall, Green Meadows Farm New York will kick off their opening weekend with Cornfest, where every visitor receives a free ear of roasted corn. The farm will also be hosting Candy Hunt on Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. 

Tickets cost $14 per person and include access to the farm playground with large haywagons, tractors, and tires, as well as the opportunity to say hi to their farm animals, such as pigs, chickens, guinea pigs, goats, alpacas, and sheep.  

Green Meadows Farm Brooklyn

Every weekend from now until Nov. 1, admitted guests can visit Green Meadows Farm Brooklyn and pick out their own pumpkin for free. Similar to Green Meadows Farm New York, the farm will kick off its opening weekend with Cornfest and participate in hosting a Candy Hunt on Oct. 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

All tickets are $14 per person and will include access to a hayride, farm animals, and operating the farm’s bulldozer. Green Meadows Farm Brooklyn will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.   

Decker Farm at Historic Richmond Town

If you and the family are looking to get away from the bustling city without the commute this fall season, Decker Farm at Historic Richmond Town is the perfect choice. Located on Staten Island, pumpkin picking at Decker Farm will open to the public on Oct. 3. 

Open on weekends from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 25, visitors can stroll through Decker Farm’s pumpkin patch, complete with various photo-ops and fall decorations, in search of the perfect pumpkin. All pumpkins will be priced by weight. 

Decker Farm also includes a hayride, a pumpkin-chucking bungee device, fun fall foods, and a pumpkin painting station. Built in 1810, Decker Farm is the city’s oldest, continually working family farm. Adult tickets cost $12.    

White Post Farms

250 Old Country Road / Website

While technically outside of the five boroughs, Long Island’s White Post Farms is just a short trip from the city. The farm will have pumpkin picking and picking every weekend from now until Oct. 25. All pumpkins will be priced by the pound. 

Thriving for the past 36 years, White Post Farms will also offer access to a thrilling animal farm filled with giraffes, primates, goats, sheep and a variety of birds. 

They will also have delicious food stands, a sing-along hay ride through cornfields, colorful homegrown mums, and six fantastic shows, including a magic and illusion show and a singing chicken show. 

In-person cash-only tickets cost $39.95 while online tickets cost $43.95. Pony rides, train rides and feed for the animals are available at an additional cost.
