The Jets lost another close game Sunday.

They may have lost the player their offense can least afford to be without.

Breece Hall exited in the fourth quarter of the Jets’ 31-24 loss to the Lions after Trevor Nowaske tackled him awkwardly near the goal line at Ford Field. Hall grabbed his thigh as he rolled out of bounds, stayed down briefly, then walked to the injury tent.

He did not return.

The Jets then ruled Hall, 25, out with a thigh injury. Head coach Aaron Glenn offered no further details, and Hall said he did not yet know how serious it was.

“It sucks,” Hall said. “It’s part of the game. It just sucks.

“I don’t know yet. I felt something when I was running, and I got tackled and planted and then felt something else, so we’ll see.”

An extended absence would be a major blow to an offense still searching for consistency. Hall is central to the Jets’ rushing attack and gives Geno Smith a reliable receiving option out of the backfield.

Hall recorded his first 1,000-yard rushing season in 2025 and added 36 catches for 350 yards and a touchdown. If he misses time, Braelon Allen would move into the No. 1 running back role. Allen has 61 yards on 19 carries through three games.

Before the injury, Hall had struggled for the second straight week, finishing with 32 yards on 13 carries. He has 163 rushing yards and a touchdown through three games.

The Jets are already short-handed on offense. Wide receivers Omar Cooper Jr., Tim Patrick and Arian Smith are on injured reserve, while Adonai Mitchell (finger) and tight end Mason Taylor (thumb) missed Sunday’s game.

Top receiver Garrett Wilson also went down in the fourth quarter. He was sandwiched between two Lions defenders while trying to make a catch, then stayed on the turf for several moments before walking to the sideline with trainers.

Glenn said Wilson was evaluated for a concussion and cleared to return, but the Jets never got him back on the field. Down 31-24 in the final seconds, they were without their two best offensive players.

One play after Wilson’s injury, former Jets safety Chuck Clark strip-sacked Smith, and Jack Campbell recovered the fumble to seal Detroit’s win.

The Jets rallied after scoring just seven points in the first half. Smith completed 31 of 37 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns, but Gang Green fell to 1-2 with its second straight loss.

“Guys going down, but there’s always guys that are able to step up,” said Kenyon Sadiq, who had seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown. “Coaches put us in great positions to succeed. But it is just about us going out there and doing it.”

The Jets now have to find out whether that next-man-up message will apply to Hall — and how much of their offense they can still run if it does.
