The Southern food chain is expanding into new markets, including New York City, Nevada and California, as it pushes toward 1,000 stores nationwide.

WASHINGTON — Bojangles is on track for a major expansion, announcing plans to open 18 new locations across eight states before the end of 2025.

The Southern fast food chain, known for its fried chicken, biscuits and sweet tea, is headed to several major markets, including New York, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio and California.

Six of the 18 remaining openings this year are in brand new markets for the company. The upcoming New York City restaurant, located in Brooklyn, marks the return of Bojangles in the big Apple for the first time since the 1980s.

“It’s a monumental moment, now that we’re entering the New York Metropolitan area again,” Jose Armario, CEO of Bojangles said. “The East Coast is craving the authentic, Southern charm that Bojangles delivers, and we’re excited to introduce locals to something new.”

The Charlotte-based company currently operates 850 locations in 20 states but told USA Today it plans to surpass 1,000 stores in the next few years. Thirty new locations have already opened in 2025, and the upcoming 18 mark a continued push to bring the Southern charm of Bojangles’ to more locations across the country.

“This year has already been a landmark for Bojangles, and we’re just getting started,” Armario added. “Bojangles’ momentum is real, and we’re committed to keeping our foot on the gas on our mission to expand coast-to-coast.”
