NEW YORK (PIX11) – The tri-state area is under a freeze warning on Tuesday as temperatures dropped to 30 degrees overnight.

That’s not the only thing to watch out for – New York City could see its first snow of the season, according to the National Weather Service.

PIX11 News crews saw a small flurry in Central Park early Tuesday morning. Snow is possible between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the NWS.

Highs are only expected to reach the mid-40s, and wind chill values are between 25 to 35 degrees. Wind gusts could be as high as 41 mph.

A Cold Blue warning is in effect for several parts of the tri-state area. Homeless shelters extended their hours and increased bed capacity to help get people off the streets as temperatures dropped.

Precipitation will return this weekend after a mostly dry week, with Saturday and Sunday having a 30% chance of rain.
