MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — A search is underway for a dump truck after a bicyclist was struck and killed in Midtown Manhattan on Monday, according to NYPD officials.
It happened just after 10:50 a.m. at 151 West 34th St. near the Macy’s in Herald Square.
Preliminarily, police say a person driving a dump truck westbound on West 34th Street toward Seventh Avenue collided with a man on a bike westbound on West 34th Street in the same direction.
Police say the dump truck did not remain at the scene and continued driving westbound on West 34th Street.
EMS responded to the location and pronounced the man who was riding the bike dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation remains ongoing.
West 34th Street between Seventh Avenue and Broadway is closed to traffic due to the investigation. Delays are expected in the area.
