Several beauty queens from the film “Red Crown” shared the celebrities they believe have the potential to represent the Philippines in major international beauty pageants.
At the film’s media conference on Tuesday, Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee named Shuvee Etrata as one celebrity she would like to see compete internationally.
“I think Shuvee should compete in an international competition,” Michelle said in Filipino, praising the Sparkle star for her stage presence, confidence, intelligence, and ability to project herself.
Miss Universe 2025 third-runner-up Ahtisa Manalo, meanwhile, picked Faith Da Silva, citing the actress’ personality and her ability to connect with people.
“I think Faith is someone who could be a beauty queen,” Ahtisa said. “She has the personality, she likes people. That’s very important for a beauty queen. Also, she has the drive and fire inside her,” she said.
Miss Universe 2013 3rd-runner-up Ariella Arida has several names in mind, including Sanya Lopez, AZ Martinez, Ashley Ortega, Shuvee, and Faith.
“I remember you have a background, a history of joining pageants. I remember meeting you for the first time, right? That’s why I appreciate Sanya,” Ariella shared.
“Before I met her, she wasn’t an actress yet. She was joining pageants. And then, the next time I saw her, she’s a big star and still the same, very humble,” she added.
For Ariella, Sanya could be a potential Miss Universe contender, while she sees AZ and Ashley as possible competitors for Miss International. Shuvee meanwhile could compete for either the Miss Universe or Miss Grand International crowns, citing her personality and looks.
Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa also named Sanya as one of her picks, saying the artista “has the grit and the wit.”
“The confidence, the smile. And most importantly, you’re still fresh. Even if you only slept for an hour. I think she has all that,” she added.
MJ also expressed her desire to see Faith compete on the national pageant stage.
“One of my wishlists next year, Faith Da Silva. Kailangang makita natin ‘yan sa national stage. And I feel like, it will happen,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bianca Manalo also named several celebrities she believes could fit different international pageants. She said AZ could compete for Miss International, while Ashley could be suited for Miss World.
Faith, Shuvee and Sanya are possible Miss Universe contenders, she said, adding Haley Dizon as another potential Miss World candidate.
“They are all beautiful,” Bianca shared.
“Red Crown” is a satirical comedy that brings together some of the country’s well-known beauty queens and actresses.
It is directed by Dominic Zapata and will premiere in cinemas on October 28. — LA, GMA News
