The New York State Bar Association will host a free webinar on Oct. 6 at 12 p.m. on managing attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD, while working in the legal profession.

Approximately 15.5 million adults in the U.S. have ADHD, with more than half being diagnosed in adulthood.

The New York State Bar Association invites members and non-members to attend the webinar entitled, “Managing ADHD in the Context of Legal Work.”

“The high rate of adult diagnoses means that many attorneys with ADHD have little experience managing this condition alongside their careers,” said Taa Grays, president of the New York State Bar Association. “As part of our mission to advance the professional success of our members, we are offering this program to help anyone with ADHD building a career or who wants to understand a coworker and colleague with ADHD.”

Sponsored by the association’s Lawyer Assistance Committee, the webinar will explain how ADHD impacts executive function and how that intersects with legal work. It will also provide practical strategies for time management, organization, and emotional regulation – areas that are challenging for people with ADHD.

The New York State Bar Association’s Lawyer Assistance Program will review available resources and support for attorneys with ADHD, including a new support group beginning in October.

Attendees will receive one Continuing Legal Education credit in Law Practice Management.
