Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens (NHSQ) will host a free Homeowner Resource Fair on Saturday, October 3, 2026, providing Queens residents with access to housing resources, financial education and services designed to promote long-term housing stability.
The event will take place from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the organization’s offices, located at 94-33 Corona Ave. in Elmhurst.
The fair will bring together housing counselors, lenders, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, financial institutions and community partners to offer information, guidance and one-on-one assistance to homeowners and prospective homebuyers. Attendees will learn about mortgage assistance programs, home repair and utility support, energy-efficiency upgrades, solar energy options, homeowners’ insurance resources, foreclosure prevention strategies, and other services aimed at helping residents protect and maintain their homes.
In addition to speaking directly with housing professionals, participants will have the opportunity to attend expert panel discussions, receive individualized consultations, and explore a variety of community resources. The event will also feature giveaways and raffle prizes, including a JetBlue airline ticket.
Residents can also participate in energy-efficiency workshops offered in both English and Spanish. The first 50 attendees will receive a complimentary energy-saving kit.
“This fair provides residents with an opportunity to connect directly with trusted experts, learn about available resources, and gain practical information that can help them protect, maintain and invest in their homes,” said Yoselin Genao-Estrella, executive director of Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens.
Genao-Estrella said the event is designed to give residents direct access to reliable information, professional guidance, and community resources that can help them make informed housing and financial decisions.
Sandra Marin, a Queens homeowner who received assistance through NHSQ’s home repair program, said the organization’s support helped her preserve her home during a difficult period.
“I first came to NHS of Queens because I needed help through their repair program. I wasn’t looking for a handout. I was simply trying to take care of something I had worked so hard to build. NHS of Queens really understood that. They helped me not only take care of my home but also treated me with a great deal of respect. Sometimes, when life has already given you more than enough to carry, having someone treat you with dignity and say, ‘We’re here. Let’s see how we can help,’ means more than most people realize.”
Jacqueline Donado, vice president of strategic programs for the Queens Chamber of Commerce, one of the event’s participating partners, emphasized the importance of collaboration in strengthening local communities.
“Strong communities begin with informed residents,” Donado said. “We’re proud to partner with NHSQ to provide homeowners with valuable information and resources that help families plan for the future.”
Participating organizations include New York City Emergency Management, Urban Health Plan, Plaza del Sol Family Health Center, the Queens Chamber of Commerce, Build Up Justice NYC, Provident Bank, the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Neighborhood Safety NYC, and the Center for NYC Neighborhoods. Additional exhibitors and community partners may be announced before the event.
According to NHSQ officials, the Homeowner Resource Fair reflects the organization’s ongoing mission to strengthen neighborhoods through education, counseling and access to trusted resources that promote sustainable homeownership throughout Queens.
