On Tuesday night, New York and Canada Goose threw a dinner party at Bistrot Ha to celebrate the magazine’s first “Men’s Style” issue. Several of the subjects of “The Boys in the Baths,” Ryan McGinley’s cover portfolio shot at the Russian & Turkish Baths, were in attendance. They included Isaac Cole Powell, Brandon Flynn, Del Water Gap, Jack Cameron Kay, and Angus O’Brien. Mike Faist dropped in en route to the premiere of East of Eden, the Netflix adaptation on which he plays Charles Trask.

For a period the party spilled out onto the sidewalk, where collaborators from the issue such as Miyako Bellizzi, who styled McGinley’s shoot, hung out with the tailor Dillon Maxwell Clarke, who was profiled in the magazine, and Iké Udé, the photographer behind a story about the TikToker Wisdom Kaye, who was also in attendance. Designers Wes Gordon of Carolina Herrera and Todd Snyder compared notes from fashion month with the interior designer Michael Bargo, the playwright and author Jordan Tannahill, the glass artist Paul Arnhold, and the writers Rachel Tashjian and Emily Sundberg.
“In my 18 years at this magazine, I’ve always wanted to be a part of a major Ryan McGinley project. I’m so grateful that we got to work together on this idea in particular, which will go in my own personal New York Magazine museum,” said New York editor-in-chief David Haskell, who co-hosted along with editor-at-large Erik Maza and senior men’s style editor Samuel Hine. Outtakes from the portfolio will be published by New York in a limited-edition zine.
The chefs Sadie Mae Burns and Anthony Ha have a devoted following downtown for their inventive French-Vietnamese cuisine, and Bistrot Ha, which opened in December, is already a tough reservation. On Tuesday, the menu included fried yuba with shrimp and nuoc mam, leeks vinaigrette with marinated mussels, steamed skate and market greens, and steak frites. For dessert, guests tucked into a maple-ice-cream bombe crowned with a chocolate Canada Goose disc.
