NEW YORK STATE (WRGB) — A newly formed group in New York state will examine New York’s sexual assault laws.
New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie announced the group on Wednesday.
He said it comes as new allegations surrounding an alleged 2024 rape at a Cornell University fraternity draw attention.
The group will identify issues and develop legislative recommendations before the end of the year, so they can be sent to the Speaker and Majority Conference for their full consideration in the 2027 session.
