Registration is now open for the 5th Annual LaGuardia Community Run/Walk, a 5K race through Long Island City taking place on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

Hosted by LaGuardia Community College/CUNY (LAGCC), the event welcomes runners and walkers of all fitness levels and raises funds for the College’s Office of Immigrant Student Empowerment (OISE), which supports immigrant and immigration-impacted students through individualized guidance, advocacy, referrals, leadership development opportunities, and community-building programs. “The LaGuardia Community Run/Walk has become a wonderful tradition that brings together students, alumni, employees, neighbors, and friends in support of an important cause,” said President Kenneth Adams. “As we celebrate the event’s fifth year, we’re proud to strengthen community connections while raising support for immigrant students.”

The USATF-certified course begins and ends on the LaGuardia Community Greenway, the pedestrian-only corridor on 29th Street known as LaGuardia Community College Way. Participants will run to the Long Island City waterfront and back. The Greenway is home to New York City’s largest street mural, designed by Fernanda Contreras (LaGuardia’26, Fine Arts).

Racers can join a team or create a team on the registration page: events.elitefeats.com/26laguardia

An Activities Plaza adjacent to the Greenway will feature music, raffles, and information tables hosted by local businesses, sponsors, and College departments. Organizations hosting tables include Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, Ridgewood Savings Bank, LiveOnNY, Primerica, and CampusMesh.

Participants will receive a race T-shirt, while supplies last, and an electronic finisher certificate with their photo and race time.

The event welcomes participants ages 7 and older. Registration costs $28.63 for adults and $13.10 for students and children. Pricing includes processing fees. Early registration is encouraged.

Medals will be awarded to the top three male, female, and nonbinary finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in each age category. Race results, photos, and finish-line videos will be available online following the event.

The race’s principal sponsor is Boyce Technologies, Inc., a Long Island City-based company whose CEO, Charles Boyce, serves as Chair of the LaGuardia Community College Foundation Board of Directors.

A Music Performance major will perform the national anthem before the race.
