Assemblywoman Nily Rozic, in partnership with Selfhelp Community Services, distributed 500 meals to older adults across Queens in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, thanks to the generous support of Resorts World Gives. The initiative reflects the power of community partnerships to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older New Yorkers. By providing 500 nutritious meals during an important cultural holiday, Assemblywoman Rozic, Selfhelp, and Resorts World Gives are helping older adults stay connected to their traditions, their neighbors, and the broader Queens community.
“Our older adults are an essential part of the fabric of our Queens communities, and they deserve to feel celebrated, supported, and connected, especially during important cultural holidays,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic. “These 500 meals are more than just a meal—they represent community, dignity, and the simple but powerful message that our seniors are not forgotten. I am deeply grateful to Selfhelp and Resorts World Gives for helping us bring the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival to older adults across our community.”
Kate Foley, VP, Institutional Advancement at Selfhelp Community Services said, “At Selfhelp, we know that strengthening our community means making sure older adults have access not only to essential services, but also to meaningful opportunities for connection and belonging. For many older adults, especially those who may live alone or have limited opportunities to gather with family, community-based celebrations provide an important sense of connection and belonging.
This partnership demonstrates what can be accomplished when elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses come together around a shared commitment to supporting older adults.
