The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 11:53 a.m. on Tuesday until 4 p.m. for Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens as well as Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.
“Scattered snow showers are expected across the area through this afternoon. This may result in some minor snow accumulations on cooler surfaces. In addition, gusty winds combined with the snow showers may result in briefly reduced visibility,” according to the weather service.
