A Staten Island man accused of antisemitic hate crimes has been found mentally unfit for trial. Richard Plunkett, 53, was ruled unable to understand the charges against him or possible sentences. The case was adjourned to August 5, 2027, and he will be held in a psychiatric facility. Court records say Plunkett was arrested after repeated targeting of neighbors and damage to homes and vehicles. He is also accused of earlier stalking, and in 2010 he performed a muskrat display at an industrial lot. During that display, he skinned one of the carcasses and told a reporter, “I want to learn something from it.”
