The stabbing occurred during an attempted robbery and the NYPD is looking for multiple suspects, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said.

“As our brother detective recovers from injuries sustained during an off-duty robbery in the Bronx, the DEA stands firmly by his side. The perpetrators may think they got away, but they didn’t count on the full force of NYPD detectives searching for them,” read a statement from the Detectives Endownment Association. “There’s nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. This union will not stop until those responsible are held accountable – for our brother in blue and all New Yorkers.”

The union reported that the atteackers fled on an e-bike after attacking the officer.
