NEW YORK STATE (WRGB) — A new survey found 40% of mothers in New York state cannot access mental healthcare for themselves or their children.

This is based on a national survey of more than 2,800 U.S. mothers conducted by mental health advocacy and research organizations Inseparable and Count on Mothers.

They found nearly 44% of surveyed New York moms said they struggled to take care of their own mental health, and 44% found it hard to access mental healthcare in schools or work with a school counselor.

These moms mentioned several obstacles, including insurance barriers, concerns about harmful online content, and schools without enough resources to meet mental health needs.
