Autumn has officially arrived, and to celebrate the season Ontario’s Legislative Building in Toronto is hosting a free Fall Festival.

On Oct. 17, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario transforms its grounds for a celebration at Queen’s Park with a parliamentary pumpkin patch, live performances, crafts, activities and tours of the historic legislative building.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the first 500 visitors to take a tour will receive a ticket to take home a free mini pumpkin.

This year, the celebration will include photo ops, fun zones, and lawn games. There will also be an outdoor market with fresh seasonal produce, locally made and handcrafted goods.

Among the legislature’s colourful grounds, there will be an “Almost A Farm Petting Zoo” where visitors can interact with gentle farm animals.

The live entertainment takes place at the Parliamentary Plaza, and visitors can learn and take part in Urban Cowboy Line Dancing, or experience Mâmawin’towin: A Métis Kitchen Party with Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk and Amanda Rheaume.

Meanwhile, inside the legislative building, there will be live performances by the West End Riverboat Band and Natasha Meister. The Quorum Café will also be open with a variety of food and refreshments.

The Fall Festival’s full schedule is available at Legislative Assembly of Ontario’s building.
