ALLERTON, Bronx (WABC) — A woman and an infant were found critically injured outside an apartment building in the Bronx early Tuesday, and police are investigating what led to their injuries.

Officers found the woman and child outside a building on Olinville Avenue in the Allerton section shortly before 3:30 a.m. The infant, who appeared to be about 1 year old, and the woman were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. A witness told police the woman and child were thrown from a balcony in the building, though authorities have not confirmed that account.
