New York style slice shop Prime Pizza continues its local expansion with a new spot opened in Torrance and a trio of new places planned in the area.
The new Torrance pizza shop is at 3720 Sepulveda Blvd., while other locations in Rancho Cucamonga, Northridge and Thousand Oaks are scheduled to open later this year.
Founded by Zak Fishman and James Starr, whose families hail from New York, Prime Pizza sticks to simple but time-proven offerings made up of round and square pies, including favorites like the cheese, pepperoni and vodka pies, as well as The Grandma, which is a classic Brooklyn square made with mozzarella and “Grandma Sauce.”

Diners can also expect hot subs and baked pastas plus vegan and gluten-free pizza, garlic knots, salads, and the newly released Churro Knots, for dessert.
While Prime Pizza keeps things traditional, Torrance residents should be on the lookout for original offerings, since the shop also experiments every once in a while with collaborations that have included a Mojo Rojo Pie with Mexican mole restaurant Guelaguetza, a Butter Chicken Pie with modern Indian hot spot Badmaash and a Hawaiian Pie, developed with Bludso’s BBQ.
The new Torrance restaurant marks 12 locations for Prime Pizza, which has shops in Pasadena, Burbank, El Segundo, Brea and Mission Viejo.
