NORWOOD, Bronx (WABC) — The NYPD has identified two suspects accused of stabbing an off-duty detective in the Bronx last Friday.
Police said Tuesday they are looking for 25-year-old D’Angelo Caraballo and 24-year-old Sneider Mejia.
The pair allegedly stabbed and slashed Det. Jose Mercedes before grabbing his chain and taking off.
It happened on East 208th Street in the middle of the day.
Police say Caraballo has five prior arrests in the city.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, both men are from the Dominican Republic and are living in the United States illegally.
No arrests have been made.
Mercedes was released from the hospital on Monday where he received a clap out, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues, including NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
