Queen Mary of Denmark is always a pro at stylishly put together royal looks, and today was no exception as the queen joined her husband King Frederik for the ceremonial opening of the Folketinget, the Danish parliament.

Mary looked smart in an oh-so-autumnal burgundy skirt suit ensemble. The long-sleeved crew neck top featured a demurely belted waist and a soft peplum hem, while the column-style skirt brushed just above her ankles. To complete the monochrome look, Mary color-matched a pair of pumps and a padded headband to keep her hair slicked back. She accented the look with a vintage turquoise and red Dior brooch reportedly dating back to 1964, and a black handbag.

Today’s appearance comes a week after the king and queen traveled to Mary’s native Tasmania for a private memorial service in honor of her father, John Donaldson. A former professor of applied mathematics, the Scotish-born Donaldson died in Hobart on April 11 at the age of 84. According to palace announcements at the time, he had been in declining health for some time, and the queen had traveled to visit him just a few weeks prior to his passing.

Born and raised in Tasmania before moving to Denmark to marry then-Crown Prince Frederik in 2004, Mary shared a personal statement in the wake of her father’s death. “My heart is heavy and my thoughts are grey,” she wrote at the time. “My beloved father has passed away. But I know that when the grief settles, the memories will brighten my day, and what will remain strongest is love and gratitude for everything he gave me and taught me.”
