Staten Island’s newest precinct boss, Captain Richard Santora, took command of the NYPD’s 123rd Precinct in July 2026. Santora’s path ran from Brooklyn neighborhoods and the 67th Precinct to the Counterterrorism Bureau, then Staten Island. He spent time at the 60th Precinct, Brooklyn South Task Force, the 94th Precinct, and the 66th Precinct. He later served as executive officer at the 122nd Precinct in New Dorp and the 121st Precinct in Graniteville. Now based in Tottenville, he says his focus is traffic, quality-of-life concerns, shopping centers, and proper deployment. Santora also says the borough’s four precincts stay in constant communication, while he enjoys hiking, beach trips, and the outdoors.
