Samaritan Daytop Village and Health raised a record-breaking over $1.1 million to support its life-saving substance abuse treatment programs during its annual gala on Sept. 29.

The nonprofit, which serves more than 36,000 New Yorkers each year, brought together over 350 supporters at Tribeca 360° in Manhattan for the event, which was hosted by the Samaritan Daytop Foundation.

Samaritan Daytop Village (SDV) provides substance use treatment, mental health care, veterans services, housing, and educational and vocational support at locations across NYC and Queens, including several outpatient treatment programs in Jamaica.

The gala featured the theme “Stronger With You,” celebrating the community of supporters that have sustained its services for more than 65 years.

Honorees recognized at the gala included MEGA Contracting Group, the general contractor for the Highbridge development in the Bronx; Errol Louis, political anchor at Spectrum News NY1; and Dr. Ronald L. Savarese, a Samaritan Daytop Village board member and former board chair.

The gala was hosted by Erin Billups, national health reporter for Spectrum News NY1, and longtime SDV supporter. Al Roker, host and weatherman of NBC’s TODAY show, served as honorary chair.

“Tonight’s gala was a powerful demonstration of what happens when we come together,” said Mitchell Netburn, president and CEO of Samaritan Daytop Village and Foundation. “Thanks to the generosity of our gala champions, sponsors, and honorees, and the hard work of our staff and volunteers, we will continue to help New Yorkers build better lives and brighter futures.”
