On Wednesday, September 30, an assembly hosted at Townsend Harris High School (THHS) celebrated the revitalization of its partnership with Queens College to provide THHS students with access to college-level coursework. Senior administrators from both the high school and the college were present, with elected officials, and an audience of Townsend Harris students.
The Bridge Program, which had previously hosted THHS students at Queens College, was paused after a loss in funding. With funding from the City University of New York (CUNY) central office, the CUNY College Now program is currently administering the program, with more than 330 THHS students taking classes at Queens College this fall. Participating THHS seniors benefit from a college-level bridge experience designed to mirror the expectations and rhythms of a freshman year of college on the QC campus at no cost to families, the school, or New York City public schools.
