The Big Apple was bustling from September 28 to October 4. From immersive pop-ups featuring celebrity appearances to clinking glasses celebrating the changing of seasons, there was something for every New Yorker last week. Here are the highlights and hottest happenings that took place in the city that never sleeps:
Funnyman Kumail Nanjiani made his presence felt ahead of the grand opening of Litter Crimes HQ, a Tidy Cats Pop-Up. The special one-day pop-up experience was a dream come true for cat lovers of all ages. People stepped inside the world of the Special Litter Unit. New recruits tested their investigative skills through a variety of interactive missions, interviewed adoptable feline agents from Petfinder, and earned exclusive S.L.U. gear and rewards. The festivities were held at 45Grand in SoHo on Friday, October 2, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Horror icon Skeet Ulrich teamed with Angry Orchard to bring the world of the ‘Scream’ movie franchise to life with the launch of Angry Orchard Video. The one-weekend-only experience saw Ulrich sharing tasty drinks with fans who stopped by to get in on the action. The actor who portrayed Billy Loomis helped define a new generation of slasher films. The vibes were immaculate, and attendees had a bloody good time while leaving with limited-edition memorabilia that was to die for.
Speaking of cider, Food Karma Projects kicked off spooky season like only they could. CiderFeast returned to Industry City on Saturday as attendees downed their favorite cider brands and helped themselves to tasty grilled cheese sandwiches and cuts of meat. The event was the brainchild of Jimmy Carbone, a beloved restaurateur and dedicated social entrepreneur. CiderFeast saw consumers and community organizations come together to celebrate.
Petivity turned Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal into a live feeding station on Tuesday, October 6. Visitors were able to press one big red button, and a Petivity Smart Feeder at a partner shelter delivered real meals to real adoptable cats, with the feeding streamed live on the screen in front of them. That was something worth meowing for.
The fun is just getting started, too. Looking to keep the good times rolling? Bowl of ‘Zole Brooklyn returns to Industry City on Thursday, October 22. The festival will celebrate classic Mexican cuisine and cultura líquida with more than 30 chefs and restaurants serving signature pozoles and other Mexican dishes alongside more than 300 pours of mezcal, tequila, raicilla, lechuguilla, sotol, and more.
Canadian singer and songwriter Jade LeMac is making the rounds and was back in town promoting her latest single, “Prettier With Your Mask Off.” The Queens Gazette got a sneak peek of the track, and it’s a song you’ll want to add to your playlist ASAP. It drops on November 6. You’ll be replaying this one over and over again as LeMac continues to be the one to watch.
Delicious bites, festive drinks, and unforgettable tunes mark an October to remember. Who could ask for anything more?
