Jayvon E. Ward, 21, of Charlotte, NC, was the passenger in a 2017 Nissan Sentra traveling on Route 212 in Saugerties on Thursday, Oct. 7 when state troopers stopped the car around 8:15 p.m. for multiple traffic violations, according to New York State Police.
Investigators found Ward in the vehicle with a loaded handgun and a large capacity ammunition magazine, state police said.
Ward was charged with second- and third-degree weapons possession, arraigned in Ulster County, and booked into county jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond, state police said. His next court date was set for Tuesday, Oct. 13.
