A Bronx man was arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Major Mark Park in Jamaica on Wednesday morning.

Abdullah Spencerel, 53, of Ogden Avenue in Highbridge, was booked at the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica, where he was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Wednesday afternoon hours after the bloody attack.

Police from the 103rd Precinct responded to a 911 call at 4:45 a.m. reporting an assault in progress inside Major Mark Park across from an apartment building at 87-70 173rd St. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with two stab wounds to the chest. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Police canvassed the area around the park with one of the witnesses, who recognized Abdullah, who was walking several blocks away, according to a law enforcement source. He was initially taken into custody as a person of interest and formally arrested and charged nearly eight hours later after several witnesses said they saw Abdullah arguing with the victim before stabbing him two times in the chest and fleeing the scene.

An NYPD spokesman could not say what the argument was about. The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification. Investigators believe he was in his 30s.

Abdullah is expected to be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Thursday.
