Cato, N.Y. — New York State Police released body-worn camera footage showing a trooper rescuing a man trapped inside a sinking vehicle at a boat launch in Cayuga County.
Trooper Christopher Cady responded to Cross Lake Marina in the town of Cato around 2:35 p.m. Sunday for a report of a car in the water with a man trapped inside, according to state police.
Cady immediately entered the water and used a window punch to break the vehicle’s sunroof.
With help from a nearby good Samaritan, Cady was able to free the man from the sinking vehicle.

Police did not provide additional details about the circumstances that caused the vehicle to enter the water or the rescued man’s condition.
