LISBON, New York (WWNY) – New York State Police says it has closed its investigation into a complaint of illegal dumping on Five Mile Line road in the town of Lisbon.
That’s the same road where Congressional candidate Blake Gendebien has a farm and was the subject of an illegal dumping complaint filed with the Department of Environmental Conservation. In that complaint, the DEC found no violations.
With the state police case, it never gave further information to indicate whose property was in the complaint, but its statement Thursday seemed to make a connection to Gendebien’s farm.
That statement said, “The New York State Police has closed its investigation into a complaint of illegal dumping on Five Mile Line road in the town of Lisbon. This complaint was previously investigated the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, which determined that no violations were committed.”
The Gendebien campaign put out a statement Thursday evening saying, “the complaint Anthony Constantino tried to fraudulently instigate against Blake Gendebien is closed, and that Gendebien was never the subject of any criminal investigation.”
It added, “The entity troopers were investigating is located on the same street as Gendebien’s farm but has absolutely no affiliation with him.”
This started Monday when the Republican candidate in the 21st Congressional District, Anthony Constantino, held a news conference and provided drone shots of farmland showing what Constantino said was trash polluting the land and water on Gendebien’s property.
Gendebien’s statement Thursday said, “The confirmation exposes Constantino’s recent press conference for what it was: a phony, staged event built on a lie. He summoned reporters, stood before the cameras, and told voters something that was never true. In the process, he dragged local media through a manufactured story and forced the State Police and the DEC to set aside their real work.”
