A man is in the hospital after he was shot by ICE agents in Manhattan on Thursday, according to officials.
It happened around 4 p.m. in Manhattan’s Marble Hill neighborhood, which is attached to the Bronx.
Video of the scene showed visible bullet holes in a windshield of a silver SUV.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said officers were seeking to arrest the man, who they said is originally from the Dominican Republic.
DHS officials said the man, who has not yet been identified by officials, had previously been convicted of grand larceny and had prior arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs and weapons possession.
In a post to social media, the NYPD says it was not involved in the shooting and was not at the scene when it took place.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in a statement on social media, called the shooting “an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation.”
“I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities,” he wrote.
According to the mayor, early reports show the federal agents surrounded the individuals and a 5-year-old child “before firing multiple rounds.”
In a statement, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wrote they are “demanding answers.”
“New Yorkers have witnessed far too many acts of violence by a rogue federal agency and untrained agents that operate with impunity,” she continued. “Federal authorities need to provide answers, and they must do so immediately.”
New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin said she was “deeply concerned” by the reports of ICE’s involvement and said federal authorities “must provide us with a fully transparent account of what took place without delay.”
“I recognize the immense fear that ICE’s actions have caused immigrant New Yorkers, and I’m deeply worried about the additional anxiety and uncertainty this incident may bring to communities across our city as we await answers,” Menin posted to social media.
Federal authorities said the man was arrested by the NYPD on Dec. 7, 2023, and was released a few days after.
