The $254 billion FY 2026 New York State Budget reflects Governor Hochul’s commitment to making New York more affordable, livable, and safer. It provides more than $5,000 in savings for a typical family, makes it easier for New Yorkers to buy or rent a home, and enacts free community college for adults entering in-demand fields. It invests in mental health care and makes sure those with severe mental illness can get the care they need; and it strengthens public safety with record investments in gun violence prevention and changes to our laws to hold perpetrators accountable for their crimes. The Budget also supports New York kids, by eliminating the distractions of smartphones in schools, investing in education, and supporting new spaces for kids to play and grow.
