ALLERTON, The Bronx (WABC) — For the first time, Eyewitness News is hearing from the grief-stricken family of Nathaly Ramirez, known to those closest to her as Michele.
Standing at a vigil outside the Bronx apartment building where police say Ramirez was pushed to her death, her mother remembers her love.
“Michele had said ‘I love you,’ that’s always what she always say,” her mother said.
Police say it was Tuesday around 3:30 a.m. when the 23-year-old mother was pushed by her ex-boyfriend off a 15th floor balcony – with her 8-month-old daughter in her arms.
It sparked a multi-day manhunt before police finally tracked down Angel Carrasco, walking him handcuffed in front of cameras as he flashed a creepy smile.
Family and friends have been left to grieve Ramirez’s death while miraculously she was able to somehow shield her daughter from the worst of the fall. Her daughter is alive, recovering in the hospital.
“She always had a smile on her face, love for everybody, best hugs ever, even in the midst of her tragedy she was thinking about her daughter,” said Ramirez’s grandmother.
Her grandmother also spoke to a crowd of domestic violence advocates on Sunday morning.

“This is ridiculous, Nathaly, I knew her as Michele, and my Michele was the happiest person ever,” she added.
Her light was snuffed out, police say by an angry ex.
Ramirez’ grandmother made a plea to other women.
“When you see that first sign, please, please, walk away,” she said.
A second vigil is also underway at the Allerville Arms apartment building.
Friends and family say Ramirez meant so much to all of them, and her memory is not soon forgotten.
