The moment we have all been waiting for: the David Bailey breakout game.

Bailey was the No. 2 overall pick in the first round of April’s draft. The highest-drafted defensive player in Jets’ franchise history. Through the first month, he was meh. A plus run defender who also had two sacks. Fine but unspectacular.

In Week 5, Bailey was ready to send a very clear message to the Cleveland Browns and a warning to the rest of the NFL: he is here.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini shared: “David Bailey’s 8 pressures are tied with several others for 5th-most by a rookie in a game since ESPN began tracking that in 2017. Watson was 1-of-3 with 5 sacks when Bailey had the first pressure, including the Browns’ final offensive play.”

The Bailey breakout game couldn’t have come at a better time. Now his confidence should only grow and that’s a dangerous thought to the rest of the league.
