A 60-year-old man was beaten to death on a Manhattan street outside a Chelsea sex shop  by a younger attacker who ran off but was arrested when he returned to the scene to retrieve his cell phone, police said Monday.

Imani McColley, 25, was charged early Monday with murder and robbery in connection with the fatal beating on on 8th Ave. near W. 21st St.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was bashed in the head after getting into an argument with McColley at the Rainbow Station sex store about 11 p.m. Sunday, which specializes in adult sexual paraphernalia, sources said.

The argument spilled out onto the street.  Medics rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital but he could not be saved.

Police say McColley ran off with the victim’s wallet, then returned to the scene about 20 minutes later to retrieve his cell phone, at which point at least one witness pointed him out to officers who had responded to the incident.

McColley has seven priors arrests, plus a number of sealed arrests.

Records show he has three open cases — including a Bronx assault and weapons cases for which he is due in court Tuesday.

He also has a pending robbery cases in Brooklyn and a pending assault case in Manhattan.
