WASHINGTON — Actress Selma Blair was arrested following a reportedly violent disturbance on a flight from Los Angeles to New York on Sunday night.
The New York Post Authority confirmed that authorities responded to a call about 11 p.m. about a physically abusive passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The passenger, whom the NYPA identified as Blair, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
A police officer taking her to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center said in charging documents that while she was securing Blair to a stretcher, Blair pulled a leg from the straps and kicked her repeatedly around the face, neck and chest, causing serious pain and substantial swelling. Later, a nurse moving Blair said the actor kicked her in the chest, causing substantial pain.
She was arraigned on two counts of second-degree assault late Monday at a court in Queens, where a judge set her bail at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond and set the next hearing for January. She left court with her lawyers, wearing jeans, a white hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses.
TMZ reported that the 54-year-old “Legally Blonde” and “Cruel Intentions” actress punched a flight attendant and bit another.
The outlet also reported that Blair attempted to open the plane’s door while the plane was in the air. A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said they did not have evidence to confirm that detail.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” a Delta spokesperson said.
Two flight attendants were reportedly injured, and one of them was taken to the hospital.
A representative for Blair told TMZ and Variety: “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
The FBI issued Blair a summons accusing her of assaults that occurred aboard a plane, according to a federal law enforcement official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The charges listed on the violation notice issued by the FBI are assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, according to a federal law enforcement official who spoke with the AP on condition of anonymity. The matter will be handled through the petty violations court in federal court in Brooklyn. No date has been set for her appearance.
In 2016, Blair had an outburst on a flight from Cancun to Los Angeles after she said she mixed alcohol with medication, which caused her to black out and make statements that she regretted. TMZ reported at the time that she was crying and talking about an abusive man.
During the 2016 incident, the outlet reported that she was attended to by nurses on the plane and taken off on a stretcher.
