Wegmans will close its experimental Rochester restaurant at the end of the month, according to the restaurant’s website.
After 13 years of struggling to draw patrons, Wegmans announced it will close Amore on Monday.
The supermarket chain opened a full-service Italian restaurant in its Rochester location in 2013. The idea was to attract more customers and develop Italian foods and flavors that later inspired products sold in its stores.
The Italian villa-inspired restaurant and wine bar seats 85 and offers table service. Amore’s menus feature Neapolitan pizza, house-made pasta, seafood, wine and cocktails.
Amore’s last day of service will be Oct. 31.
Wegmans said it will work to find Amore employees new roles within the company.
