When you think of airport snacks, chips, cookies, and candy probably come to mind. New research suggests New York travelers may be searching for something a little different: Chobani Vanilla Yogurt.

Yogurt Leads Searches Near New York’s Busiest Airport

They compared online searches around the busiest airport area in each state. Chobani Vanilla Yogurt got the most search interest in New York. Vermont was the only other state where the yogurt finished first.

Searches Do Not Show What Travelers Bought

The study measured online searches, not actual airport purchases. Someone might search for a snack to check its price, nutrition facts, ingredients, or where it is sold. The results do not prove it is the snack New Yorkers buy most often before flying.

Beef Jerky Won the Most States

Jack Link’s Beef Jerky was the strongest national winner. It led search interest in 12 states, including Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and several Midwestern states.

Spicy Snacks Ruled the Southwest

Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Crunchy finished first in six states, including California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Doritos Flamin’ Hot led in Nevada and New Jersey.

New England Wanted Dunkin’

Dunkin’ Donuts was the top result in five New England states. Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island all chose Dunkin’. Vermont broke from that pattern with Chobani yogurt.

How the Study Worked

Maaltalk compared search interest for 14 popular snacks near major airport areas. The snack with the highest search interest near each state’s busiest airport was named the winner. So, while much of America searched for salty, sweet, or spicy treats, New York’s result was simple. Travelers here appear more interested in vanilla yogurt.
