NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Less than three weeks before election day Wednesday morning, the candidates for New York governor are making their final push to win over voters.
Tuesday night’s fiery debate put immigration, affordability and President Trump in the spotlight.
The debate was the only scheduled face-to-face between the two candidates before election day.

Immigration quickly became a flashpoint, with Gov. Kathy Hochul and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman clashing over a recent ICE shooting in the Bronx and New York’s sanctuary policies.
Blakeman attacked Hochul for banning local police from taking part in ICE raids, while Hochul fired back, saying cooperation does happen in criminal investigations while also criticizing how federal agents are operating.
The candidates also traded barbs over affordability, with Blakeman blaming the governor for high taxes and soaring utility bills.
Hochul, in the meantime, defended her record, highlighting her administration’s efforts to help families with childcare and energy costs.

And then there was President Donald Trump.
Hochul repeatedly tried to tie Blakeman to the President and his policies.
Blakeman pushed back, arguing the governor was focusing too much on Trump and not enough on New Yorkers’ everyday concerns.
Governor Hochul enters the final stretch with a lead in the polls.
Early voting begins Oct. 24, with the General Election set for Nov. 3rd.
