NEW YORK (WABC) — Civil rights leaders are calling on the MTA to fire two fare inspectors following allegations of excessive force against a Brooklyn school dean.
Kyle Taylor, a dean at Mott Bridges Academy, says he was riding a B14 bus to school last Wednesday when two members of the MTA’s Eagle Team asked to see his identification after he had already paid his fare.
Taylor says that when he tried to leave the bus, the inspectors grabbed him, punched him, and slammed him to the ground. He says he lost consciousness during the encounter.
“I’m in pain. I can’t sleep at night, and every time I see someone that’s wearing a badge it’s disturbing,” Taylor said.
Taylor says he is recovering from injuries to his back, neck, shoulder, arm, and elbow.
The MTA had not responded to a request for comment as of Wednesday morning.
