Police on Wednesday said they were investigating the death of a 25-year-old man in Queens and a related incident involving a 62-year-old woman found injured beneath the Van Wyck Expressway. Neighbors identified the woman as the man’s mother.
Officers responded to a call on 59th Street in Woodside just before 9 a.m. and found Bryan Wong with injuries throughout his body, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The NYPD said the woman’s injuries were consistent with a fall or jump. She was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition, police said.
Neighbors described the woman as Wong’s mother. Neither police nor neighbors identified her by name.
“She always looked tired,” neighbor Patricia Guevara said in an interview.
Guevara also said the woman’s son was nonverbal.
“He would only grunt,” she said. “He would never talk.”
A home health aide who worked with the family but declined to give her name said the family hailed from Hong Kong and had lived in the United States for many years.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.
