Detectives in Queens are awaiting the autopsy results for a 5-year-old girl who died under suspicious circumstances Wednesday night.

The child was found critically injured inside a residence on the 9500 block of 110th Street in South Richmond Hill at about 6:55 p.m. on Oct. 14.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct responded to the location after receiving a 911 call regarding an assault.

When they arrived, published reports indicated, the officers found the youngster unconscious and unresponsive, and bleeding from the nose and mouth. It is not yet known how the girl became injured.

EMS rushed the child to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition; she died there a short time later.

Police have not yet released the child’s identity, pending proper family notification. Her body was transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

ABC7 reported that the girl’s mother had also been hospitalized for evaluation, but police sources could not confirm that report on Thursday morning.

So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
