MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Family members rescued a person with a physical disability after fire broke out in a Manhattan home late Wednesday morning, officials said.
The blaze was reported around 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at 2409 Lookout Drive, in the area of Anderson Avenue and Bellehaven Road on the west side of Manhattan.
Upon their arrival, officials said, Manhattan Fire Department crews found a single-story home with flames and smoke showing from the attached garage.

The fire was contained within 15 minutes.
Officials said family members removed the person with a physical disability before fire crews arrived on the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation as of early Wednesday afternoon.
A loss estimate wasn’t available early Wednesday afternoon, but Manhattan Fire Department officials said damage to the residence was “significant.”
A total of 15 Manhattan firefighters responded on five trucks.
No injuries were reported.
The home’s owner is listed as Wanda Jepsen, of the same address, officials said.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while emergency crews were on the scene.
