The Democratic Organization of Richmond County honored 7 people and groups at a Staten Island gala. The America250-themed celebration took place on Oct. 1 at Rossville’s Historic Old Bermuda Inn. Dinner and dancing accompanied a look at Staten Island’s role in the nation’s first 250 years. Honorees represented public health advocacy, immigrant legal aid, local history, independent media and civic organizing. Guests were invited to wear patriotic costumes. The evening also featured Staten Island trivia and a selfie station.
